What is Pilates?

Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates almost a century ago. He was inspired by many different disciplines including yoga, dance and martial arts to develop his method. Pilates helps you strengthen your core, correct movement patterns, and increase overall well-being by teaching you to connect your mind and body. It is taught primarily on specialized devices called reformers

What is Reformer Pilates?

If you've never been on a reformer before, you'll be surprised at how intense the workout can get. At the same time it protects your joints. With the combination of adjustable springs and a sliding platform, the Reformer can create resistance or instability (or both) to make exercises easier or more difficult.

What can Reformer Pilates do better than normal Mat Pilates?

The advantage that the reformer has over mat training is that it greatly expands the repertoire of exercises available. The exercises are not only aimed at strengthening and building up the muscles, but are also intended to increase the range of motion. In contrast to mat work, which focuses heavily on the core, i.e. the muscles in the middle of the body, the reformer works with the entire body: the peripheral muscles of the arms and legs are also challenged.

Our Semi-Private Reformer Pilates classes offer you 60 minutes of targeted exercise. By changing the focus, your body is constantly challenged and your practice remains inspiring. Your package is valid for all Reformer group classes including the Jumpboard HIIT classes.

Our method combines the principles of the original work from Joseph Pilates (correct physical alignment, center, control, breathing, flowing movement, and concentration) with the refinement and the anatomical understanding of contemporary schools of Pilates. In our studio we are using Balanced Body® equipment (Allegro Reformer).

Yes, and you'll love it! During the private introduction, you'll get to know the reformer and feel how it strengthens and aligns your body. You'll learn how to use it safely and effectively so that every movement achieves its full effect. This way, you'll start your first workout with confidence and ease.
