In Icaros training, you'll primarily target your back, core, and abdominal muscles, while also working on your stability and coordination—all while chasing your record skiing time or flying through impressive virtual mountain landscapes. ICAROS HEALTH – are you ready to take off?
We've all probably imagined what it would be like to be able to fly – and you certainly have too! With the first and only Icaros Health device in Frankfurt, we at Purajana bring you a step closer to this dream. At the same time, we're taking your core training to a new and innovative level.
Icaros training strengthens your core and upper body muscles and sharpens your coordination and balance by combining fitness and virtual reality training (also called exergaming, from "exercise" + gaming). This combination creates exciting and effective training experiences that you've probably never experienced before.
The foundation of Icaros training is the well-known plank, which completes the classic core training component. You don't hold the plank statically on the floor, but rather on a metal frame that can tilt forward and backward, as well as left and right. By shifting your center of gravity, you tilt in the direction you want to go – all while looking through VR glasses, lacking the visual "anchor" to reality: welcome to Icaros Health!

Exergaming: You can choose between these games during ICAROS training
In addition to training with VR headsets, a tablet can also be attached at head height, on which your training sequence will run, especially at the beginning of your personal Icaros experience. At the beginning, it's completely sufficient to familiarize yourself with the movements of the Icaros and get a feel for which movements trigger the shifting of your body weight – this alone is a challenge in three-dimensional space.

The following workouts and games are available to you with the tablet:
- Quick Workout: Practice your reaction, balance, and precision in basic movements like rolls, flips, holds, and circles.
- Fly Yoga: An intensive training program to increase your flexibility and balance. A variety of planking variations and yoga-based exercises strengthen your core muscles and improve your body awareness.
- Surfing: Train your balance, reaction, and body control while surfing. Focus: Strength, balance, coordination, reaction.
- Ski: Ski as fast as you can. The closer you pass the gates and the better you maintain the racing line, the faster you'll reach the finish line. Focus: Strength, balance, coordination.
- Space Battle: Dodge shots, destroy enemy spaceships, and defeat the final boss. Focus: Power, Reaction.
- Brick Breaker: A fast-paced and active game that trains core muscles in a fun way. Focus: Strength, reaction.
You can choose from the following workouts and games with the VR glasses:
- Mountain Worlds: Fly in a virtual wingsuit through the realistic mountain world of the Engadine, Berchtesgaden, or the Dolomites. In free flight, you explore the Alpine world on your own, while in parkour mode, you fly unerringly through rings to beat the high score.
- Underwater: Dive into the deep sea and embark on a dive where you race sharks and manta rays and battle enemy submarines.

Gamified Training: This is what you train on the ICAROS
Many people's core muscles are often poorly developed due to prolonged sitting and lack of exercise. The main goal of Icaros training is to strengthen and stabilize the core muscles. The goal is to specifically activate the muscle chains that connect the upper and lower body. By continuously holding the plank in various positions, your body is constantly under tension – after just a short time on the Icaros, you'll feel virtually every muscle in your body.

This is how your session on the ICAROS works
In total, your session, including all preparation, will last approximately 30 minutes, and the actual flight time on the Icaros will be approximately 20 minutes. To give you an idea of what to expect, we've put together a brief overview of your Icaros training for you.
- Booking your session: Register with our booking partner bsport to book your appointment online on our Icaros Health platform. Select your desired package and appointment time – and look forward to your gamified training!
- Dry Exercise: In your very first session, we'll first look at the basics, namely the plank on the floor. Correct plank posture during these exercises is essential for an effective workout and improving posture.
- Getting to Know It: You will then get to know the Icaros, and we will explain the approach, entry options, and movement patterns you will perform on the Icaros.
- Tablet Games: Once you feel comfortable on the Icaros, we'll start with the first tablet exercises. This will give you a feel for how the workouts work – and you're guaranteed to work up a sweat! To begin with, you'll hold the plank on your forearms and knees. Later, you can raise your knees and even alternate your arms and legs – if you can manage it!
- VR Headset: Once you feel confident and have the Icaros or yourself well under control during the tablet games, the magic begins! By putting on the VR headset, you enter strange worlds and take your core training to another level, as you now move in three-dimensional space without any visual reference points – a unique experience!
FAQ about our ICAROS training
Can you combine ICAROS with Yoga & Reformer Pilates?
Yes! Improving core stability is also an important goal in yoga and reformer Pilates. Core training on the Icaros can be viewed as both a highly effective supplement and a standalone, fun form of training.
When should I not use ICAROS?
If any of these complaints or conditions apply to you, you should not train on the Icaros: fever, acute lumbar pain, unidentified pain, pregnancy, acute inflammatory disease, general medical contradictions.
Are there any side effects?
In some cases, motion sickness symptoms may occur when using VR mode. You shouldn't worry, you get used to these new movements in three-dimensional space if you practice regularly.
What studies are there on the effectiveness of ICAROS?
Scientific studies have proven that ICAROS enables effective and efficient training in terms of calorie consumption and muscle activation, especially of the core muscles. In addition, training with ICAROS improves coordination and balance. With software like the ICAROS app, ICAROS offers training alternatives for the entire body even beyond virtual reality.
